(Oliver), amerikanischer Filmproduzent, * Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania) 10. 5. 1902, ✝ Los Angeles (Kalifornien) 22. 6. 1965; arbeitete ab 1926 bei Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) in Hollywood, ab 1927 bei Paramount; ab 1931 Vizepräsident der RKO Studios, ab 1933 von MGM; 1936 Gründung einer eigenen Produktionsgesellschaft »Selznick International«. Selznick, der bis 1957 tätig war, produzierte kommerziell sehr erfolgreiche Filme von hohem künstlerischen Wert, besonders vor dem Zweiten Weltkrieg, z. B. »Vom Winde verweht« (1939).
